Weekly Worship Prayers

ReClaim encourages the weekly use of the entire Prayer of the Church (see ReClaim: Lutheran Hymnal for Church and Home, pgs. 29-30, 55-56, 82-83). The Prayer of the Church fulfills those regular intercessions for which Scripture admonishes us to pray: the church, nation, leaders, the sick, sanctification, spiritual warfare, etc. Where the rubric leaves room for special supplications, intercessions, and prayers, we offer the following additional petitions for use, according to the discretion of the worship leader and the congregation’s needs. Each week includes texts from the Revised Common Lectionary (RCL); some pages have suggested alternatives (ReClaim/Michael Rogness).
If you would like to submit prayers for inclusion, please email them to info – at – reclaimresources – dot – org.  We reserve the right to use them or not, and to edit for content.
ReClaim wants to encourage the church to PRAY for our persecuted brethren as well as learn from them. The silence has been deafening. We are attaching petitions for the persecuted church and although it is late we hope you will be able to make use of them Sunday, Nov 1, 2015, or Sunday, Nov 8, 2015, or whenever your worship team chooses. Thank you!
Prayers for the Persecuted Church
Lectionary Year C – November 2015-November 2016

This year, ReClaim’s suggested Gospel readings for Advent
are those that were commonly used by Lutheran preachers
until the move toward the Common Lectionary in the 1970s
and 1980s. Lutheran preachers focused on three different
“advents” of Christ: in the flesh (first Sunday), the promised
future coming (second Sunday), and in the present through
the preaching of the Word (third and fourth Sundays). As
further, the triumphal entry of Christ into
Jerusalem gave opportunity to proclaim Christ arriving in
Jerusalem in the flesh, and the preaching of John the Baptist
on the third and fourth Sundays gave opportunity to focus on
Christ arriving in our lives through the preaching of the Word.
These older Advent texts were a part of the one year
lectionary that Luther himself used, which has its roots in
the time of Charlemagne.
